For one of our customers, leader in the construction of stainless steel equipment for the pharmaceutical sector, we had to sort out an interesting “dynamics-structural” problem.

A dust container had to rotate around a skew axis with dynamic load effects on the drive shaft. The goal was to calculate such effects and develop a curve that best represented the load history acting on the shaft in order to be able to perform a fatigue test.

We then created a CFD model of the container with the powders inside and, by setting a rotation around the skew axis, with a transient simulation we were able to obtain the forces and momentums acting on the drive shaft, which allowed to carry out a static and a fatigue test.
