Electromechanical design and consulting on hydropower plants

In case of a greenfield project design, we analyze the hydraulic data of head and flow in order to determine, with specific calculations, the best combination of turbines to be installed in order to maximize the investment or the global efficiency. We have the necessary tools to perform dynamic analyses on the plant to anticipate water hammers or hydraulic and electrical instabilities.

The aim is to determine correct technical specifications of the electromechanical part, which will be used in a public or private tender.

Project development of Pelton, Francis, Kaplan and Archimedean Screws hydroelectric turbines

Starting from the project data (head and flow), the design steps to define the hydraulic geometries are decided, carrying out the fluid-dynamic verifications.

Once the hydraulic project has been completed, the turbine has to be industrialized, taking into account the mechanical part, linked to production technologies, budgets, production times, structural verifications and fatigue analysis.

Finally, the executive project is prepared, including the bill of materials and the construction details - processing methods and applied tolerances.

Maintenance plans

Operating a hydropower plant includes ordinary activities and extraordinary activities.

In order to have full control on the activities to be carried out for a good maintenance, we prepare a detailed maintenance plan that can allow the plant manager or the plant owner to have all the activities under control. A maintenance plan allows to improve the overall plant production, to avoid downtime, to schedule ordinary and extraordinary O&M investments, and to have a history of the events that occurred in the plant.

All this will allow to keep a high value of the asset. We can further plan periodical site visits to verify the compliance of the performed activities and suggest the capex needed for a proper maintenance.
